Dear 2C,
Many of you did not do well for Section C, D and G of your Topical Test 3. Please read the following notes and I hope it helps you for your revision! (Parents please go through with your child.)
Section A: Grammar MCQ (7 x 1 mark)
Underline key words that give clues to:
1) the tense
2) subject verb agreement (singular or plural)
3) Look out for special words like 'to','did' as well as modal verbs 'can', 'will', 'could'... where we use the base verb form after them. (e.g. can dance, he likes to swim)(Did you eat)
Section B: Vocabulary MCQ (7 x 1 mark)
Revise the words in your spelling list.
Underline key words that help you get to the answer.
Section C: Joining of Sentences (Synthesis) (3 x 2 marks)

2) Check if the name is repeated twice. Use a pronoun (he, she, it, they...) to replace the second one.
3) Check for the order of events. Read and think, which happened first? Eg: Do you brush your teeth then go to sleep or do you go to sleep then brush your teeth
4) Check for punctuation as well.
>If a sentence begins with 'When', remember there must be a comma.
> Do not write capital letter in the middle of sentence unless the words are Proper nouns.
5)Check subject verb agreement for eg.
"John likes to draw. Sam likes to draw"
Common mistake: John and Sam likes to draw.
Correct answer: John and Sam like to draw.
Section D: Grammar Cloze (5x 1 mark)
Draw arrows and link ideas to your answer.
Look out for:
1) the tense used in the story (check the sentence before and after)
2) special words like 'to', modal verbs 'can', 'will', 'could'... where we use the base verb form after them. (e.g. can dance, he likes to swim)
3) subject verb agreement (singular or plural)
4) gender: male or female (e.g. Kenneth ordered tea for himself)
Section E: Vocab Cloze Passage(5x1mark)

2) Write both the letter & the word in the blank. This helps you better in checking your answer.
3) Read the passage with the answers and check if the story makes sense.
Section F:Reading Comprehension MCQ (5x1mark)
1) Read and understand the passage.
2) Use the process of elimination if needed. Cross out all the answers that you know are definitely wrong to try to get to the answer.
Section G: Reading Comprehension Open-ended (5x2 marks)
1) Check for tenses in the question asked.
Many of you keep forgetting! Do not start your answer with 'Because..' ,
Most of you are not able to write a complete sentence and you will get -1 for it. Answer to the point, there's no need to repeat the question.
2) Do not lift and copy the exact sentence from the passage. Make some minor changes and twerk it to fit the answer.
Hope these help!
